Casey To Meet With Corrections Workers

September 8, 2008

ORLANDO -- Casey Anthony, the mother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony, will meet with corrections workers Monday as part of the conditions of her home confinement.

During the meeting, Anthony is expected to get approval for any other trips she wants to make in the coming weeks, such as visiting with her lawyer in Kissimmee.

Casey was released Friday on a $500,000 bond for charges of child neglect and lying to authorities, as well as smaller, unrelated bonds for theft and check fraud charges.

Search Called Off

As for the search for Caylee, the search and recovery group Texas EquuSearch temporarily called off its ground search for the missing toddler, citing environmental conditions and concerns.

Many volunteers were seen crying and hugging each other after learning the search was over, saying they hoped they could just keep looking into something was found.

"I'm saddened that they're having to pull out right now," said Martha Stoetzer, a volunteer in Orlando. "Honestly, I wish we could keep going. I wish we could keep searching. I think there's been a lot of close calls, a bunch of great leads."

"It's very disappointing. It's very disheartening," said Michele Benigno, a Minneola volunteer. "I don't really quite understand the reasons behind it. I understand what they're saying about the wetlands, but I mean, I think they could still pursue it."

Counseling was offered to some searchers overwhelmed by the news.

Kidnapping, rape suspect can stand trial

Wichita, Kansas
BY FRED MANN
The Wichita Eagle

A Sedgwick County judge Thursday found Robert Abner competent to stand trial in the kidnapping and rape of a Viola convenience store clerk.

Judge Eric Yost set a preliminary hearing for Sept. 11.

Abner, 39, is charged with one count of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and six counts of rape.

The clerk was released outside her family's pastor's home about three days after she disappeared in June. Abner allegedly had held her at his north Wichita house before leaving town.

Abner was arrested in early July in Springfield, Ore., after authorities received a tip from a resident he had called from a motel there.

Deputy public defender Jama Mitchell had contended that Abner has mental problems that prevent him from adequately defending himself against the charges.

Abner, who appeared in court, was evaluated last month by Comcare, the county's community mental health program, and found competent to stand trial.

Man Sent to Jail for Grandmother's Beating Death

for full background, here is the Americas Most Wanted Site:

UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - After a testy exchange with a judge, a 35 year-old man was sentenced Monday to 25 years to life in state prison for beating his grandmother to death during an argument.
Scott Herman repeatedly denied that he intended to kill his 82-year-old grandmother, Louise Herman, last November in Rome, N.Y., and lashed out at the judge and prosecutor as he spoke on his own behalf.
"No one is this courtroom knows what happened in that house," said Herman. An Oneida County Court jury needed less than a half hour to find Herman guilty of murdering his grandmother, even though Judge Barry Donalty had allowed jurors to also consider the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Herman, who defended himself, argued during his trial that there was no evidence he intended to kill his grandmother and that he only meant to cause her serious injury when he slammed her head several times against a basement support pole.
He told jurors that he was defending himself after his grandmother came at him swinging a hammer and threatened to kill him during an argument at the home they shared. After the killing, Herman fled the state. He was captured in January in New Mexico after two months on the run.
Assistant District Attorney Dawn Catera Lupi described Herman's actions as a "rage killing" and noted Herman's lack of remorse and empathy about his grandmothers death. "The defendant took his frustrations at his life out on his grandmother," Lupi said. "She was there when he needed her and this was her reward."

Herman said he felt being sentenced to prison would be wrong. He said he planned to appeal the verdict because of media bias tainting the jury.
When Donalty spoke, he said he was "flabbergasted" by Herman's words. Herman constantly interrupted as the judge tried to impose sentence.
Donalty then imposed the maximum sent of 25 years to life, but he said he regretted not being able to give him more because of the violent nature of the crime.

Caylee Kidnap Story Rev. 1

Casey was "flirtatious" with Rob Dick according to Leonard Padilla. I thought he sounded a little jealous, but lets face it, Padilla would pierce your lip with spear in his mouth. Rob is pretty hot. Until now I've only seen the Robot Rob, deer in the headlight Rob. But in this video, he opened up, was kind of cute. Casey would do him.

Oh, by the way, Casey reveals "Story Rev 1" to Rob on a trip to or from the attorneys office.
Now they met up at J Blancard park, and THAT's where Zani and Sami and their kids decide to steal her kid, and give her a "30 day statement" to stick with.
Per Padilla, she's told her story, and she's stickin' to it.

Investigators remove evidence from car belonging to Casey Anthony's father

Investigators remove evidence from George Anthony's car

2:45 a.m. Investigators traveled to the Anthony home and removed evidence from a vehicle owned by Anthony's father, George Anthony. Deputies were seen removing the contents of the spare-wheel well and taking at least one item as evidence...

UPDATE: 8:00PM Item removed from wheelwell of George's SUV was his gun. Evidently a pistol.
http://media.myfoxorlando.com/live/mobilecam.html this is a webcam of the Anthony's house. It only works half the time, per my experience. I post it, yet I wonder, is this crossing the line of right to privacy? How ethical is it to stare at their house? There is another out there in cyberspace with a different angle. Yet I keep watching...

About a dozen people waited with reporters across the street from the Anthony home -- many of them suspicious that the young woman knows what happened to her child and has not told authorities.

A 2-year-old stood quietly at her mother's feet, holding onto a sign that read, "How could you kill a baby like me!!!" Amber Railing, the toddler's mother, said she doesn't understand Anthony's behavior since Caylee disappeared."She shows no emotion," Railing said. "If it was my child and I was sitting in jail, I'd be ranting and raving until they let me out of jail to find my child."

Protester Jeff Zwick carried that a sign that said, "Orlando's O.J.?" and "Baby Killer." "I just want her to know that the community's not happy with her," he said. "She knows where the kid's at .... She needs to start talking."...

At least one protester and several sources close to the case speculated Friday that the network had offered the Anthonys money for an interview. ABC denied those reports.

Mark NeJame, attorney for Anthony's parents, Cindy and George Anthony, said the couple had not received any money for photos, videos or interviews. "They are attempting to find Caylee," he said. "They want the focus on finding Caylee." They have been offered money and "have refused without hesitation," he said."It's absolutely out of control," NeJame said of the rumors.

Denise Freideman and Anita Castillo spent several hours searching for Caylee on Thursday with Texas EquuSearch...saying they already had walked through thick brush and swamp, where they encountered snakes. Volunteers were told to keep an eye out for rolled-up rugs, duffel bags and bones, they said. Mandy Albritton, search director for EquuSearch, said those are standard items to search for. Volunteers are also routinely told to keep an eye out for children's shoes, baby blankets, tire tracks and freshly disturbed dirt...

Meanwhile, a Department of Children and Families spokeswoman confirmed Friday that the state agency has an open child-abuse investigation involving Anthony. Two DCF officials met with Anthony at the Orange County Jail on Thursday. "That meeting is a normal part of any investigation. DCF officials are obligated to meet face-to-face with a parent who is being investigated for alleged child abuse," agency spokeswoman Carrie Hoeppner said.

Casey Anthony to leave jail again

TODAY'S UPDATES:

Casey Anthony to leave jail again Friday morning 6:20 p.m.

Casey Anthony, mother of missing toddler Caylee Marie Anthony, is expected to leave the Orange County Jail mid-morning on Friday, officials said late Thursday.

Anthony's bail of 500,000 on a child-neglect charge has been posted, a jail spokesman said. Bail already had been satisfied on 11 less-serious charges. Before leaving, Anthony, 22, must meet with a home-confinement worker to iron out terms of her electronic monitoring.

Sheriff's investigators seek volunteers 4:33 p.m.

Orange County sheriff's investigators are asking for more volunteers to help search for Caylee Marie Anthony, the missing Orange County girl whose disappearance has made national news. Volunteers are asked to meet at the search-command center, 6317 TPC Blvd., no later than 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They will receive maps of the area and be assembled into search teams...

Tim Miller said he is working hard to find Caylee Marie, whether she is alive or dead. Miller has been on the ground searching for the missing child's possible remains in areas around Orange County since last Friday."We are holding on to that little bit of hope that Caylee is still alive," Miller said. "But if not, it's important that her little body is found..." Miller's own daughter went missing September 10, 1984, 24 years from this Tuesday, and the police would not look for her because they believed she was a run-away, he said. Her body was recovered in a field in Feb. 1986. She had been murdered."I wish I would have had one person out there looking for my daughter," he said. "My heart goes out this family, it truly does."

Cindy Anthony fires back at EquuSearch leader 3:12 p.m. Cindy Anthony, the grandmother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Marie, fired back today at comments made by EquuSearch's founder, Tim Miller, regarding the family's role in searching for her granddaughter. While Anthony admits the group's search efforts are appreciated, she thinks Miller "misrepresented his intentions..." Anthony maintains that Miller agreed to look for a living child and not a dead child. Garrison said the family has received "massive amounts of e-mails from people who believe Caylee is alive and they are looking for her."But, the number of volunteers helping EquuSearch look for the missing girl has dwindled from 150 to less than 50 after news emerged that traces of chloroform were found in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car and air sample tests showed there human decomposition gases in the vehicle...

Cindy and George Anthony retain high profile lawyer 2 p.m. Mark NeJame has confirmed this afternoon that he will be representing Cindy and George Anthony, but he will not represent their daughter, Casey. NeJame told the Orlando Sentinel yesterday that he had met with the couple for several hours regarding the legal process and media. The Anthonys wanted to learn from NeJame about how they could refocus the case on the search for their missing granddaughter.

Chloroform at a high level was found in the trunk of the car driven by Casey Anthony. Sources told the Orlando Sentinel that the chemical -- which can be used to knock people out -- was detected by preliminary tests conducted by an FBI laboratory. It was detected in the same trunk that an official last week said air-sample tests show once held a decomposing human body. The role of the chloroform in Caylee's disappearance was not clear Wednesday. However, there is evidence showing that Casey Anthony may have been researching the chemical on the Internet, sources said. Chloroform has been depicted in movies and on television when a person uses a rag soaked in the liquid to cover the mouth and nose of another, making the victim lose consciousness. A person can die if too much of the chemical is inhaled. Chloroform also is the byproduct of contact between chorine used in swimming pools and skin, sweat or urine. Commercially, it is used in refrigeration, photography, and as an industrial cleaning solvent...
