Casey Anthony Jury Selection Day 6

Jury selection is in the Casey Anthony trial resumed Saturday afternoon. So far, the court excused 10 potential jurors. Two jurors were retained.

The latest juror was excused for financial hardship. Another juror was excused because she believed Casey Anthony was guilty because she was uncooperative with the investigation. Another juror was excused because he violated the order about posting on Facebook.

Judge Perry is looking for the magic number of 15 (12 jurors and three alternates).

In all, 25 jurors have been questioned in three days of jury selection. Of those, 10 have been retained. About 21 potential jurors were called back today.

Judge Perry says the court will work until about 5 p.m. local time today.
He wants a full jury seated by today so that the trial can start on Tuesday.

Casey Anthony murder trial

The Prairie Chicken

April 28, 2011

As Casey Anthony's trial for the murder of her two year old daughter Caylee Marie approaches, the plan is to cover it daily. To be very clear, I believe Casey Anthony is guilty of callously killing her little girl; if my jaded comments will offend you, you might want to read elsewhere. They are all purely my own opinion.

Caylee would be five years old now, starting 1st grade in the fall. A beautiful little life was wasted because her selfish, self-centered mother didn't want to bother with her anymore. Because she hated her mother she refused to relinquish custody to her. As Casey Anthony's grandmother Shirley Pleasea said, "maybe she hated her mother more than she loved her daughter."

For the past several weeks, there have been daily court hearings where the defense attorneys are attempting to keep various damaging evidence from the trial. If there is a reasonable explanation for these items, why try to exclude evidence? Why not just explain?

I have to also say, if you are watching the pre-trial motions, notice Casey's demeanor. She is intelligent and right now she see's herself as an equal with her attorney's. Watch her at the defense table, fussing with her clothes and hair. Grinning at her lawyers as though they are in on a private joke. She is loving all the attention. The whole world is looking at her and she seems to be having the time of her life. Reality will set in once the prison doors lock behind her. I can't wait until it occurs to her that the attention is over and the prison is forever, and that no one really cares. She will be forgotten, as it should be.

We will see come May 9

Judge Strickland disqualifies himself from Casey Anthony case!!

OMG

Chief Judge Belvin Perry, known for being no-nonsense, will handle Casey Anthony’s case

The Orlando Sentinel
April 19, 2010

The man who arguably became Central Florida's most recognized judge — without ever making public comment about the case that thrust him into the national spotlight — left some piercing, parting words for Casey Anthony's defense attorneys on Monday.

In an order granting Anthony's request for him to step down from the case, Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland wrote: "At its core, defense counsel's motion accuses the undersigned of being a ‘self-aggrandizing media hound.' Indeed. The irony is rich."

Anthony's defense team filed a motion late Friday asking Strickland to disqualify himself from her first-degree murder case because of a "personal relationship" he has with a blogger who has been critical of their client...

According to the defense's motion, Anthony feared she wouldn't get a fair trial because of the relationship between Strickland and blogger Dave Knechel — known online as "Marinade Dave."
In his order, Strickland noted that he did talk to the blogger in court — with a TV camera rolling, microphones on, and in front of the attorneys.
Strickland wrote that he recently began looking at Internet material and blogs to get an idea of what people are saying about the case, which is relevant to the defense's motion for change of venue...

Casey Anthony Document Dump April, 2010

The Prairie Chicken
April 11, 2010

Below I've pasted some links to the letters so loudly hailed in the past week between Casey Anthony and Robyn Adams in the early months of Casey's incarceration at the Orange County jail.

Casey writes in an immature 'double-bubble' script that makes it hard to read at times. Any of the good information is in the links below, but what I noticed in reading through her letters was that when Jesse Grund was interviewed, he told Yuri Melich that Casey would morph into what ever person she needed/wanted to be.

He said that when she was with him and trying to win over his parents she was heavy with faith and gods love. With Tony she was totally into hip-hop or screech or what ever that music is called now.

Here--knowing Robyn is religious--Casey goes on and on like a Sunday School teacher. She says she wants to start an RV ministry together and travel the country, those two and Robyn's kids. But then she also says they should get a house together, where Casey's #1 must have is a king size bed, and then there is the sport's bar Casey wants to open.

So, Jesse is right. Casey was trying hard to morph into Robyn's world, but the materialism gave her away.

Also hilarious was Casey complaining about the clothes her mother brought her. Her mom has no control over how fat Casey's ass is getting. She probably expects some new items. Maybe some spring ensembles.

I still want to see Mallory Parker's interview. The fact that she has not been mentioned at all tells me she is one the prosecutions secret/surprise witness. Mark my word.

what I like about this the best, is that every time anyone tries to tell her anything, Casey Anthony cuts them off with a quick "Oh, I know." She thinks she knows everything, and yet she let her own ego get the better of her--has to brag about herself. In her own handwriting. Can't wait to find out what all she has to say. Cheeseball. really pathetic.

Casey Anthony has $112,000 in legal fees . . . and a trial date

Casey Anthony’s attorneys have already spent more than $100,000; trial date set for May 2011

By Amy L. Edwards, Orlando Sentinel
4:42 p.m. EST, March 8, 2010

Casey Anthony has run up $112,000 in fees for two of her attorneys and is asking the state to declare her indigent so the state will help pay for her expenses, according to court filings made public Monday...
.
In an affidavit signed last week, Anthony estimated fees for defense attorney Andrea Lyon, a professor at DePaul University in Chicago who is renowned for her work in death-penalty cases, at $22,500. She said the fees for Kissimmee lawyer Jose Baez total $89,454.83.
Anthony is accused of killing her daughter, 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony, in 2008.
In their motion, Lyon and Baez stated Casey Anthony doesn't have sufficient funds to pay costs associated with her defense.
.
Lyon represents Anthony pro bono and has not received any fees, the motion said. Lyon has incurred costs for transcripts, travel and investigation.

New Photo's released in Casey Anthony murder case

The Prairie Chicken
February 16, 2010
.
Three CD's full of documents and photograph's were released today.
.
Highlights include Caylee Anthony's car seat, baby-doll, the Gatorade bottle and syringe. There are also several views of the serrations of the knife found in Casey Anthony's car, showing fibers stuck to at least two teeth of the knife--and photographs of the duct tape, including fibers that thread through the tape giving it strength. Very interesting.

I wonder who is selecting her clothing for her now. That green shirt is, ah, well...I'm thinking someone picked it up from a second hand shop. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but not exactly what Casey was used to. Today it looked like she had on one of Jose's old shirts (that boy-friend shirt look.)

Casey Anthony defense: Florida's death-penalty procedure is unconstitutional

By Amy L. Edwards

Orlando Sentinel
November 30, 2009

Casey Anthony's defense lawyers have filed a motion arguing that Florida's death penalty procedure is unconstitutional. And because the procedure is unconstitutional, the death penalty should be precluded as a potential sentence, their motion argues.

Defense lawyers Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon filed the motion last week, along with a slew of others totaling more than 250 pages.

In their motion, the lawyers argued, "Even if the death penalty procedure were constitutional, the State has failed to charge Miss Anthony with the aggravating circumstances necessary to impose the death penalty; thus, a death sentence in this case would violate due process."
gag, gag. I'm tired of hearing about these people...but they just keep going and going.

Roy Kronk: State's star witness or Casey Anthony defense's best shot?

November 25, 2009
By Sarah Lundy
November 21, 2009

For almost a year, Roy Kronk has been heralded as the man who did what others could not: He found missing toddler Caylee Anthony's remains in woods near her family home...Now, Anthony's defense team hopes Kronk will become reasonable doubt to a jury. Legal documents filed this week reveal interviews with Kronk's ex-wives, his son and a daughter of another ex-girlfriend. They paint a picture of a man with a shady past and a history of abusing and restraining women...
Kronk has never been charged, and the claims could not be independently verified. He denies the claims....Some legal experts say this is an attack on a witness and the defense will have a hard time showing how these prior acts are relevant to the case...Others say it's a smart move by Anthony's attorneys to create reasonable doubt....Kronk found Caylee's skull in a bag in woods Dec. 11.

.
I'm really appalled by this--blaming Kronk. Baez has also requested ALL of Tim Miller's Equusearch records. How many times did we hear the Anthony's begging the public to search for her granddaughter, now the one who found her is under suspicion. Guess it just doesn't pay to be a good Samaritan these days, unless you can afford a good lawyer.
.
I also totally discredit anything the ex's have to say about Roy Kronk. Mine could probably say something about my past to embarrass me. Of course they are all dead. Well, two are dead, the other--they haven't found the body. hehehe...

Casey Anthony to spend Thanksgiving with the girls

The Prairie Chicken
November 25, 2009

It's been reported that Casey Anthony's second Thanksgiving in the County Jail will be celebrated by just she and the girls...the other inmates.

The menu includes roast turkey, seasoned potatoes (I wonder what they mean by seasoned?), cranberry sauce, mixed veggies and pumpkins spice cake. Not exactly grama's dressing and pumpkin pie, she should slow down on the carbs anyway.

No friends or family members are scheduled to visit.

Mallory Parker Deposed about Caylee Anthony disappearance/murder

clickorlando.com
Daniel Dahm, Staff Writer
November 12, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Prosecutors in the Casey Anthony case on November 12 deposed the girlfriend of Anthony's brother.

Mallory Parker, the girlfriend of Lee Anthony, was deposed, but it's not known what questions she was specifically asked...

Parker, 25, has been dating Lee Anthony since before Caylee's disappearance, and she has been at the Anthony family home during several events that occurred there. Lee Anthony said he intentionally kept Parker away from the family's home during the first few hectic days after Caylee was reported missing, but Parker was the first person to arrive at the Anthony's home the morning Caylee's body was found. Parker was taking care of the family's dog while grandparents George and Cindy Anthony were in California for a "Larry King" taping. She was barred from entering the home because it had become a potential crime scene...

Detectives never formally interviewed Parker...

Casey Anthony case: syringe in bottle contained traces of chloroform

FBI lab tests detected the dangerous chemical in evidence from the area where Caylee Marie's remains were found.

By Walter Pacheco,

Anika Myers Palm,
Orlando SENTINEL

Lab tests in the Casey Anthony case show trace amounts of chloroform, a potentially deadly chemical, on some of the evidence collected by investigators, records released Friday show...

Authorities ruled her death a homicide but they [said] could not determine how she died.

An FBI report released Friday shows investigators had found a plastic Gatorade Cool Blue sports drink bottle near the child's remains. A plastic bag labeled "Disposable Syringe Kit" with a syringe was found inside the bottle...

A report generated in June and labeled "Summary of results" by Dr. Michael Rickenbach of the FBI's labs indicates chloroform, testosterone, ethanol and water inside the syringe...

In other prosecution evidence released Friday, an insect expert found "coffin flies" in a bag of trash found in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car...
That bitch. If I was 30 years younger and could get my hands on her I could save the state of Florida a lot of money. Now--who had access to steroids? Was Jesse? He would be likely, having lots of body training to enter the Police Force. Ricardo? He's a big guy, but looks a little bit flabby. No offense Rico, if you ever read this.

Defense Says Casey Anthony Was Overcharged

Right: My favorite photo of Casey--in full chains.
Tuesday, November 03, 2009
Also read motion articles from cfnews13:
.
ORLANDO -- In motions filed on Tuesday, Casey Anthony's defense team said police and prosecutors made mistakes in charging Anthony in her check fraud case.
.
Anthony's defense is filing new motions, which legal analysts say means the defense are getting their ducks in a row. When a person's life is at stake, you can't leave any stone unturned, and if the case goes through an appeals process, these are the natural steps to take...
.
A trial has been set for January and the defense is trying to move it out of Orange County...
.
In September, the defense tried to get the death penalty thrown out. Motions were filed, but never argued in front of the judge. The state responded to that motion, and now the defense is responding back. The defense said the State does not have enough evidence for a first degree murder charge, let alone the death penalty.
.
The last motion filed is regarding October 2008, when a grand jury indicted Casey Anthony. The defense said the indictment is "unconstitutionally vague." Florida law requires an indictment for a first degree murder charge...
.
There are still a number of other motions that haven't been heard before the judge. There is no word on when these new motions will be heard.
.
New Book Out On The Case Against Casey
.
As these new motions are filed, there is word of a new book that is due on book store shelves Tuesday. It is called "Mommy's Little Girl," and is written by Diane Fanning.
Here is an excerpt from that book (from cfnews13):

"When they got within three feet of the white Pontiac, George smelled a distinctive unpleasant odor. He’d once worked in law enforcement. He knew that smell, and it filled him with dread. He thought of his daughter and granddaughter. Please don’t let this be what I think it is...
“Whoa, does that stink!” Simon exclaimed...
.
News 13 has checked with several bookstores around Central Florida, and so far found only one store with copies -- but they only had six.
.
.
Think I'll pass on the book. Maybe when the trial is complete a book will come out with things we don't already know.

Trial set for January in Casey Anthony fraud case

Orlando Sentinel
Sarah Lundy Sentinel Staff Writer
October 16, 2009

The trial for Casey Anthony's check fraud case is set for Jan. 25, according to court officials. A pre-trial hearing will be on Dec. 18. Casey Anthony, 23, is charged with more than a dozen fraud counts, including check forgery. She's accused of writing $662 in checks that belong to a friend, Amy Huizenga. Her defense team has asked that the trial be moved outside of Orange County. Prosecutors wanted the fraud trial to be held before Casey Anthony's murder trial...
.
And in other news, Casey emptied out her jail house bank account, even going in debt $10 and some change. As usual, George brought a $50 money order down to the jail, signed by Cindy, to pay off the debt and fund her next case of munchies. She never stops...its incredible.

Casey Anthony tattoo

The Prairie Chicken
October 9, 2009

We finally see the infamous Bella Vita tattoo. What I enjoy more is the dingy sports bra, pasty & pudgy skin and zits all over her back.

I've noticed she wears the same gray slacks and blue cambry shirt every time she goes to court. If she had been nicer to her mother, she might have a nicer court wardrobe.

Entire document dump coming.
