Friends: Now vs. Then

I'm not on Myspace, Facebook, this book or that book. I'm not on the cover of a book or the inside jacket of a book, not even on the back of a book.
I "twitter" occasionally, but not with anyone in specific.

I keep in close contact with 2 of my high school friends. One of them, I have known since pre-K. We chat at least twice a month via phone and keep each other up to date on the goings on in our lives and with our kids.

I was one of the popular girls in school, yet I have no overwhelming desire to meet up with anyone else from my past. Sometimes, I don't feel like going back.
I want a friend for the "now" stage of my life.

I do, at times like having someone online to chat with. Someone you know is always there because her "online" is on. A friend whom, if I see around town, I don't have to exchange a stiff smile with and listen to her ramblings on if I choose not to.
A friend that I can laugh with and be myself around. If I were in my pj's, she wouldn't know, or care, even if it was 1:30 in the afternoon.
Someone I could sit and chat with and not worry if my house were messy, if my purse matched my shoes, and any other thing that may not be right and she would go running back to 'Mrs. Jones' and tell them about it.
Just someone who cares about the information we exchange, the laughs we share, and me as a person, a mom, and who I really am.

Isn't it funny how the Internet has changed us?

By the way, I am, however, in the phone book.

spoil yourself..........
